depends how bad the cold is. I probably wouldn't go to the gym with a cold as like you said you can pass it on to everyone. However I find if I have a cold that a run with lots of layers on and a good sweat helps me get rid of it!
I'm fighting it at the moment with extra vitamins and some nasal spray (as advised by a medical professional), in the hopes that I can catch it before it gets worse. But I also can't justify rolling with somebody when I have a slight running nose and sore throat.
