Triangle Choke: The Four Most Common Errors

Monday

Drilled with Ro.

The same as recently, we drilled from top side control.

SC & they frame under neck: "hitching ride" to break frame.

SC > they frame under neck > chin in their wrist > control elbow > wrist lock

SC > isolate arm > knee on belly > step over head (crouch over) keeping it all tight > Kimura

SC > isolate arm + it pops through > tight on arm+neck > slide knee over & swap sides > head in gap > lift their neck & choke

Went well.

Single leg to knee on belly:
  1. Armbar: Loop right arm under their left for armbar
  2. Kimura: Pin their left to my right hip > base out with hand > up on right leg > turn them onto side > step over face with right leg > lean to 10pm
  3. Triangle: Isolate left arm > mount > right foot under neck (s mount) > walk leg round > roll them over (be sure leg is cleared) > triangle
Had a great roll with Iri.

Low Level X Pass:

Wednesday 8 February 2012

Wednesday

Drilled with Iri.

Worked on sweeps from guard/X guard; similar to Monday but starting from standing and stepping in and dropping into guard as they stand.

Feet between legs > left leg wrap around to hip (careful not to reap knee) > right leg thigh > left arm wrap ankle > grab gi > sweep

Feet between legs > left leg wrap around to hip (careful not to reap knee) > right leg thigh > left arm wrap ankle > grab gi > swap to X if they move their left leg in > knees tight together on their leg on my left > sweep

As above > pass their left hand to your right gi holding sleeve > grab collar on same side as sleeve > swap to X  > sweep over sleeve side

> end up in combat base OR knee belly depending on sweep > side control (stack side or opposite side) > armbar if poss

Good.

The Armbar: Three Most Common Errors

Tuesday 7 February 2012

Monday

Drilled with Iri.

Worked 4 takedowns into side control into armbar, etc.

Nice td - dropping down (right knee down, left up) > right arm straight to side (kinda reap) behind knee left hand dragging ankle (drag ALONG the floor as opposed to lift the ankle) > this leaves the leg over your right arm so > left hand keep their other leg flat to floor > stack > side control (hook right foot over their ankle to keep leg down)

Other side (not stacking) > knee under back > sweep hand under to get space > knee in gap: side control

Rolled with Iri and Ad.

With Iri:
Iri in my guard; I deliberately setup/threatened kimura in order to transition into hip bump sweep. Success! Satisfying to know a tiny "plan" worked.

With Ad:
Managed to pull out of his openguard ok, but he controlled me mostly. Took my back but I survived.
Ad worked his butterfly guard, then offered some help afterwards. Great.

Little steps towards big goals.

Sunday 5 February 2012
